Liebherr at Conexpo Con/Agg 2014
During Conexpo Con/Agg 2014, Liebherr will present an extensive selection of its Earthmoving, Material Handling and Construction Equipment product range. The Liebherr outdoor stand will be located at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Gold Lot 2155.
From March 4-8, 2014, Liebherr will display more than 20 pieces of equipment for multiple industries and job applications. The Liebherr booth covers 50,000 ft2 (4,600 m2) and provides room for three hydraulic excavators, three wheel loaders, three crawler loaders and tractors, one deep foundation machine, two material handlers, two tower cranes, six mobile and crawler cranes as well as one concrete pump. For the first time on display at Conexpo, Liebherr will present various components from the mechanical, hydraulic and electric drive systems competency areas.
R 956 Crawler Excavator – a new development in the 50-tonne class
The new R 956 standard hydraulic excavator weighs approximately 122,100 lb (55,400 kg) and replaces the previous R 954 model.
The R 956 is equipped with a Liebherr 6-cylinder diesel engine with common rail fuel injection. Among the features enabling this engine to comply with Tier 4i / stage IIIB exhaust emission standards are an external exhaust gas recirculation system and a diesel particulate filter with active regeneration.
The steelwork for the new R 956’s uppercarriage has been optimized for extended service life. A wide variety of undercarriages are available to suit any application. The LC is the typical under-carriage for earthmoving applications, two ‘heavy-duty’-undercarriages HD and S-HD are also available for quarry applications.
PR 736 Dozer to be introduced to the US-Market
With a service weight of 44,000 to 55,115 lb (20,000-25,000 kg), the PR 736 dozer, is not only a new development but also the first model in the new Generation 6 series. Priorities in its development were measures to increase efficiency and to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Among the innovations on the Generation 6 models are electronic travel speed regulation with an integral eco-function, and pro-active power control.
To simplify the use of automatic machine control systems, Liebherr can supply its Generation 6 crawler tractors and loaders with factory preparation kits for leading manufacturers control systems.
The modern design of the new Generation 6 crawler tractors provides the driver with a good all-round view of the terrain and the machine’s working attachments. The operator cab is a completely new design with ergonomically located controls. The seat can be optimally positioned to suit the operator’s preferences.
Newest Generation of Material Handlers: the LH 40 M and LH 60 C
Liebherr is presenting the LH 40 M mobile industrial handler and LH 60 C tracked industrial handler from its new series of material-handling machines at Conexpo Con/Agg 2014 in Las Vegas (USA).
The Liebherr LH 40 M and LH 60 C handling machines combine comfort, performance and reliability to provide customers greater efficiency and low operating costs. They deliver a new level of economy as the result of their high load capacities and superior reach. Specially developed for material handling, both machines also comply with the requirements of Tier 4i / stage IIIB emissions regulations.
Efficiency comes standard on the LH 40 M and LH 60 C. Both are equipped with the Liebherr Energy Recovery System (ERC) as standard. The additional hydraulic cylinder helps to increase the handling capacity while reducing fuel consumption. The machine features Liebherr Power Efficiency system (LPE) which optimizes the interaction between the drive components and therefore increases the efficiency and optimizes the engine’s power output.
LB 44-510 rotary drilling rig expands range of deep foundation machines
The new LB 44-510 rotary drilling rig has a weight of approx. 381,000 lb (173 t) and offers 376,000 lbf-ft (510 kNm) of torque. The hydraulic drive manufactured by Liebherr offers automated torque adjustment, continuous speed optimization and four electronically adjustable speed ranges.
In Kelly drilling operation the LB 44-510 has been designed for drilling diameters of up to 10 ft (3 m) and drilling depths of maximum 302 ft (92 m). The drilling rig is driven by a V8 diesel engine offering 505 kW / 677 HP and complies with the exhaust certifications stage IIIB / Tier 4i.
If required, the LB 44-510 can be disassembled into single parts weighing a maximum of 90,000 lb (41 t). Thus, the rotary drilling rig can easily be transported throughout the world. As the leader can be folded back for transportation with all hydraulic hoses connected and ropes reeved, no disassembly is required when moving the equipment between jobsites.
Crawler concrete pump THS 110 D-K
The crawler concrete pump THS 110 D-K provides a maximum concrete output of 102 m³/h (133 yd³/h) and is equipped with a six-cylinder engine.
Smooth running and outstanding suction performance are the hallmarks of a powerful pump unit in the crawler concrete pump THS 110 D-K, while an open hydraulic circuit guarantees reduced system maintenance requirements.
The new Liebherr crawler concrete pump is particularly suited for applications in which pumping of the concrete is constantly being relocated around the building site. Maneuvering and operation of the crawler track-mounted concrete pump is via remote control.
LTM 1300-6.2 all-terrain crane features single-engine drive concept
The LTM 1300-6.2 all-terrain crane is the successor to the time-tested LTM 1250-6.1. Its telescopic boom has been extended by 6 m (20 ft) to 78 m (256 ft). Its load capacity has also been increased. The new LTM 1300-6.2 from Liebherr is the most powerful mobile crane in the 300 tonne (360 US-tons) class available on the market.
On one hand, the LTM 1300-6.2 is designed as a simple folding jib crane while on the other it is the smallest luffing jib crane on the market. This provides crane operators a low cost entry point into the luffing jib crane class.
A completely new concept for the superstructure drive unit has been used on the new LTM 1300-6.2. Instead of the twin-engine concept normally used on cranes in this class, 300-tonne (360 US-ton) mobile crane is powered by a single engine with a mechanical shaft. A mechanical shaft ensures particularly high efficiency and thus guarantees low fuel consumption for this new concept.
LR 11000: new crawler crane in the 1,200 US-tons class
The LR 11000 crawler crane, which was introduced in 2012, supplements the Liebherr range of crawler cranes between the LR 1750 and LR 11350. The new crane features very high load capacities and will in the future be available with the PowerBoom parallel boom system.
With a variety of boom versions, including Derrick systems and special wind power equipment, this versatile new Liebherr crawler crane covers a large range of applications. The LR 11000 is been designed to be so compact that it is ideal for use in constricted areas.
380 EC-B flat-top crane
The 380 EC-B 16 Litronic flat-top crane provides a maximum radius of 246 ft. (75 m), and can lift up to 7.496 lb. (3,400 kg) at the end of the jib.
The visually striking appearance of the 380 EC-B is particularly impressive due to its crane superstructure. One characteristic feature is the four-chord counter-jib. The very compact crane superstructure, with a maximum radius of 246 ft (75 m), can be loaded onto only five trucks.
Liebherr has paid particular attention in the design and development of its 380 EC-B in order to ensure, that the dimensions of each individual part meet container transport requirements, which is a major advantage when loading this equipment onto ships. The whole EC-B head, including the IC slewing ring support and the 246 ft (75 m) jib, can be accommodated easily in 40-foot containers.
542 HC-L luffing jib crane
The 542 HC-L 18/36 Litronic luffing jib crane has a maximum load capacity of 79,366 lb (36,000 kg). The luffing gear has been optimized dependent on lifting capacity so that shorter adjusting times are possible. At a high crane density, this can be a crucial factor.
The 542 HC-L has infinitely adjustable FC drive units. The entry-level model 542 HC-L 18/36 Litronic includes a 110 kW FC hoist unit, a 110 kW FC luffing gear unit with secondary brake, as well as two 11 kW FC slewing gear units as standard equipment for precise and targeted load handling.
The 542 HC-L is always supplied in the easy-to-use Litronic version. Using the programmable logic controller PLC, the load can be moved at the touch of a button in the same way as with a trolley jib top-slewing crane in a level luffing movement. Another component of the Litronic concept is the tried and trusted MICROMOVE. It permits high-precision positioning of the load without the hoist gear brake engaging, for safe and efficient crane operations.
Premiere at Conexpo: Liebherr components on display
For the first time on display at Conexpo, Liebherr presents various innovative components in a special pavilion within the Liebherr booth. The exhibits from the mechanical, hydraulic and electric drive systems areas have been developed and manufactured at Liebherr’s various competence centers.
The display includes the latest generation of Liebherr diesel engines. The engine on display complies with the USA EPA Tier 4 final exhaust emission limits that come into effect in 2014. Liebherr uses Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exclusively on these engines, an innovative technology that makes particulate filters unnecessary. The SCR system by Liebherr is particularly outstanding for its small installation space. The hydraulic driveline consists of splitter box and several hydraulic pumps, and it is mounted to the V8 engine on display. This driveline demonstrates the system proficiency of the Liebherr-Components.
The new common-rail fuel injection system, with Liebherr’s own engine control unit are another highlight in the Components pavilion. These systems are standard equipment on Liebherr V4-V12 engines and can be adapted for use on other manufacturers’ diesel engines. Liebherr common-rail systems are notable for their exceptionally low fuel consumption and efficient combustion, both factors reduce exhaust emissions.
